The last thing you want after paying to get your hair coloured is for it to not last or to go brassy in the sun. Here are a few ways to make sure your hair colour lasts during the summer months...
Hair needs SPF just as much as your skin does. Not only does the sun dry out and burn your hair but the UV rays can change the tone of your hair, making it lighter. Avoid frazzled ends with an SPF hair spray.
USE A GLOSS
Treat your hair to an at-home gloss treatment to refresh colour and brightness every few weeks. The gloss will give you that salon shine without having to go back every couple months for a colour refresh.
We all know by now that purple shampoos are the way to go when you want to avoid brassy/yellow tones. If you feel your hair colour is fading, use one of these shampoo's to lift the colour and change it back to cool tones.
AVOID THE POOL
We're not saying you can't go in the pool but if you can avoid putting your hair in you would be saving your hair colour. Mineral deposits found in pool water are what cause the green tinge that no one wants! Pineapple hair to the rescue...
USE A FILTER
Washing your hair too much is the main reason why colour can fade quickly. Try to wash your hair less frequently and always wash with luke warm water. Adding a filter to your shower head will also cut down on minerals like iron and lime which can be harsh on your hair colour. You'll also notice how much softer your hair is when using a filter!
